Founded in 1979 in Del Mar, California, Board & Brew has grown into a well-loved brand with stores throughout Southern California and beyond. What began as a single storefront near the beach has evolved into a chain with more than 20 locations across California and Arizona, with a reputation for affordable, high-quality sandwiches. Over the years, the brand has maintained its commitment to using fresh, non-processed ingredients and its signature in-house sauces, including the beloved "secret sauce," which has become a staple for loyal fans.
The Mission Valley location marks Board & Brew's 15th site in San Diego County and will be overseen by franchisee Adam Shamel, president of Blue Ocean Foods, Inc. Shamel, who has previously opened several successful franchise locations, brings extensive industry experience from his work with popular brands like Dave’s Hot Chicken and Jersey Mike's. Since shifting from a career in corporate finance to the restaurant industry, Shamel has established a strong footprint in Southern California with multiple franchises, particularly in San Diego.
Situated in a prime 1,222-square-foot location formerly occupied by Starbucks, the Mission Valley Board & Brew will sit alongside a busy Green Line Trolley stop. The surrounding Park Valley Center has recently undergone significant updates, welcoming new businesses and transforming into a vibrant shopping destination. This revitalized area now includes newcomers like Qdoba and Urban Plates, which have moved into spaces previously held by long-standing tenants.
As with all Board & Brew locations, the Mission Valley store will offer freshly prepared sandwiches with in-house roasted meats and organic, non-frozen chicken. Additionally, all sauces and marinades will be made from scratch. Unlike some other location, this branch will not have a beer and wine license.
