The Beverly Beach Garden Replacing El Prez Bar & Restaurant In San Diego's Pacific Beach

Following a 10-month, extensive renovation, the Pacific Beach hotspot formerly known as El Prez is set to reopen as The Beverly Beach Garden, a three-story dining and drinking venue with ocean views and a menu of coastal California cuisine.

Aaron Phillips has been a key player in shaping the Pacific Beach beachside bar scene since 2011. Phillips first launched The Beachwood, a raucous beach bar that quickly became a PB hotspot. In 2016, Phillips rebranded it as El Prez, turning the space into a lively Mexican-inspired bar known for its wooden rooftop and sweeping views of the Pacific Ocean.

Phillips and his team didn't stop there. The group also owns several other Pacific Beach establishments, including Truckstop, known for its hearty, American diner-inspired eats; PB Avenue, a casual go-to for beachgoers; Woody's, which offers a quintessential beachfront dining experience; and Candy’s Boom Room, a lively bar that was formerly known as Red's Saloon. Their most recent addition, Flamingo Deck, has also been making waves with its tropical vibes and Italian-inspired menu.

El Prez closed its doors at the beginning of 2024, signaling the start of a major transformation. The Pacific Beach Restaurant Group took on the ambitious task of revamping the three-story venue located within the Promenade at Pacific Beach. The transformation reflects the evolving tastes of the area, promising a unique blend of coastal charm and upscale experiences. The space has now been completely reimagined, and soon, it will be unveiled as The Beverly Beach Garden.

The new concept draws inspiration California coastal elegance with a vibrant, garden-like atmosphere. Expect a more refined yet relaxed dining and drinking experience, catering to both casual beachgoers and those looking for a more elevated night out. Led by regional Chef Lizzie Lopez, the venue promises an innovative menu of coastal-inspired cuisine, stunning ocean views, and a creatively designed space.

"We're excited to offer San Diego a taste of California's coast in a beautiful, modern setting with panoramic ocean views," says Chef Lizzie Lopez. "The Beverly Garden embodies the same creative energy and design flair seen at our other venues like Flamingo Deck."

The Beverly Beach Garden is anticipated to open by year's end at 4190 Mission Boulevard in San Diego's Pacific Beach. For more information, follow The Beverly on Instagram
