Vále Bodega is a new venture spearheaded by Mario and Morgan Guerra, founders of The Leucadia Co., a restaurant group that also operates other well-known local spots like Hamburger Hut, Corner Pizza, and Jaguar Paw. The new restaurant, sited next door to Rare Society steakhouse, will be an intimate space, with seating for just over 20 guests and no outdoor dining area.
Valentina, known for its Spanish-Mediterranean cuisine, opened in 2019 and quickly became a favorite in the Encinitas dining scene. With Vále Bodega, the Guerras aim to replicate the success of Valentina in Solana Beach, bringing a similar focus on small plates and fresh, sustainably-sourced seafood to the community.
Vále Bodega's menu will feature many of Valentina’s signature dishes, including popular items like croquetas de iberico, gambas al ajillo, and jamón ibérico. The menu will continue to emphasize classic Spanish flavors, while also incorporating new dishes inspired by Mario Guerra's experiences in Spain during childhood. The wine program will also mirror Valentina's, offering a range of traditional Spanish wines along with other handpicked selections.
A large bar will anchor the small dining room, complemented by custom woodwork from local craftsman Jon Wegener, adding to the cozy, communal feel of the space. Executive Chef Benjamin Lara, who previously worked at Campfire in Carlsbad, will collaborate with Mario Guerra to create a menu that is both approachable and full of flavor.
Positioned as more than just a dining destination, Vále Bodega is envisioned as a gathering place for the local community. The Guerras are passionate about creating spaces that foster connections between friends and neighbors, and they hope Vále Bodega will serve as a small landmark within Solana Beach's Cedros Avenue district.
