Oscar Award-Winning Actor Will Smith Brings Live Music Experience To San Diego’s Observatory North Park

San Diego fans of Will Smith are in for a treat this December as the Academy Award-winning actor and Grammy Award-winning rapper (and notorious Oscar slapper) takes the stage for a two nights of live music at the Observatory North Park.

Will Smith, known for his iconic roles in films like Independence Day, Men in Black, and The Pursuit of Happyness, is set to bring his musical hits to life on December 11 and 12, showcasing the songs that helped launch his career in the late '80s and '90s. Though he's become one of Hollywood’s most bankable stars, Smith’s roots are in music.

Before his acting fame, Smith was one half of the rap duo DJ Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince, whose hits like "Parents Just Don’t Understand" and "Summertime" earned them widespread acclaim and the first-ever Grammy for Best Rap Performance. Later in his solo music career, Smith released chart-toppers like "Gettin' Jiggy Wit It," "Miami," and "Men in Black," blending pop appeal with his signature charisma.

Smith's career has not been without its controversies. In 2022, he made headlines for slapping comedian Chris Rock during the Oscars ceremony, a moment that sparked wide debate and introspection for the actor. Now, however, he's turning the spotlight back on his musical roots, giving fans a chance to relive the energy and nostalgia of his greatest hits.

Tickets for these exclusive performances go on presale Wednesday, November 13, at 10am, running through Thursday, November 14, at 10pm with code RAVE. General ticket sales begin Friday, November 15, at 10am. Fans can expect a high-energy show filled with Smith's classic tracks, making it a memorable night for all who attend.

The Observatory is located at 2891 University Avenue in San Diego's North Park. For more information and to purchase tickets, visit observatorysd.com.
