San Diego Costco Food Court Temporarily Closed After Car Crashes Into Ordering Area

A surprising incident occurred Friday morning at the Costco in San Diego when a Mini Cooper crashed into the store's food court area, causing temporary closure of the popular ordering area.

The crash happened around 9:15am at the Costco Mission Valley location, before the store officially opened, which likely prevented any injuries. The late-model blue Mini Cooper, bearing handicap plates, reportedly plowed through a low concrete barrier near the food court, where lines of customers typically form later in the day. The vehicle came to a stop against the wall near the ordering windows.

First responders from San Diego Fire-Rescue and the San Diego Police Department quickly arrived at the scene. Firefighters used an axe and crowbar to remove the food court door, allowing workers to exit safely from the kitchen area. The Mini Cooper sustained damage to its front and driver-side quarter panel in the incident.

A spokesperson from the San Diego Police Department confirmed that no injuries were reported. Costco staff later confirmed that the food court would remain closed temporarily as they assess and repair the damage.
