Following the success of its first San Diego branch in Chula Vista, which debuted in 2022, StarBread Bakery's expansion marks another milestone for the decades-old bakery that originated in Northern California. The new San Diego location will open in a former salon space within Poway Town Center.
Founded in Vallejo, California, in 1986, StarBread is a family-run business celebrated for its soft, buttery, sugar-dusted Señorita bread - affectionately referred to as "Spanish Bread." Over the years, the bakery has grown to include multiple locations, initially in Northern California, and recently expanding to Southern California, Nevada, and beyond.
Like its other branches, the incoming San Diego location will offer a variety of StarBread’s signature items. In addition to the popular Señorita bread, customers can enjoy a rotating selection of cakes, donuts, and pastries, as well as Filipino staples like lumpia, empanadas, siopao (steamed buns filled with meat), and bitso-bitso - a sweet treat akin to Portuguese malasadas filled with options such as cream cheese, chocolate, or fruit jam.
StarBread is expected to open at some point in early 2025 at 12318 Poway Road in the Poway Town Center shopping plaza. For more information, visit starbreadca.com.
