R Place Bar & Eatery Replacing Barrel & Board Social In San Diego's Hillcrest

R Place Bar & Eatery will open in the space that last housed Barrel & Board Social in San Diego's Hillcrest community.

Owners Demecio Meneses and Juan Flores are gearing up to unveil R Place Bar & Eatery this February. This marks the newest location for the company, which previously operated R Place Sports Bar & Grill near Petco Park. The company is also in the process of taking over Cabo Cantina on Garnet Avenue in San Diego's Pacific Beach.

The new R Place is installing in the expansive unit formerly occupied by Barrel & Board. Unlike its previous sports-focused sibling in Downtown San Diego, which is in the process of becoming a new Swagyu location, this new outlet in Hillcrest will pivot towards celebrating the local LGBTQ+ community. It aims to offer an upscale bar food experience combined with a welcoming atmosphere.

The menu at R Place will feature handcrafted Mexican-American bar fare, similar to what was offered at the original location, but with new additions to cater to a broader palate. Guests can look forward to a selection of cocktails, spirits, wine draft beers, and quality food in an environment that promotes inclusivity and community.

R Place Bar & Eatery will include both indoor and outdoor seating areas. For those seeking a more private experience, the bar will also offer dedicated spaces for events like birthdays, corporate gatherings, or intimate celebrations.

R Place Bar & Eatery aims to open on February 9 at 1027 University Ave in San Diego's Hillcrest. For more information, visit rplacesandiego.com.
