Popular San Diego taqueria, Crack Taco Shop, known for its signature "Cardiff Crack" tri-tip, is opening a new location in the Leucadia area of Encinitas, marking its third outpost in the region.
The new branch of Crack Taco will open within a small plaza at off Leucadia Boulevard, anchored by a 7-Eleven and Auto Zone. This new venue will occupy a 705 square-foot unit, bringing the unique flavors of Crack Taco Shop to the heart of North County. The location will be sharing the plaza with an upcoming branch of Banzai Bowls, promising a diverse food destination.
Originally launched in 2019 by Ron Abbo, Steve Abbo, and Pete Najjar in Mission Valley, Crack Taco Shop has quickly gained recognition for its fresh-pressed tortillas and high-quality ingredients, including the famous "Cardiff Crack" burgundy pepper tri-tip from Seaside Market in Cardiff. Their menu features a variety of tacos, burritos, breakfast options, bowls, quesadillas, and more, complemented by an assortment of drinks like beer, specialty Micheladas, wine, and sangria.
This expansion follows the successful opening of their second location at Seaport Village in downtown San Diego in September 2023, after a development period of over two years. The Seaport Village store has been a hit, offering a glimpse into the brand's potential to captivate a wider audience with its unique take on Mexican cuisine.
The new Encinitas location will continue the tradition of offering both traditional and innovative Mexican dishes. With its small but efficient space, Crack Taco Shop aims to provide a quick, quality dining experience for those in North County looking for authentic flavors with a local twist.
Crack Taco Shop is anticipated to open later this year at 110 Leucadia Boulevard in Encinitas. For more information, visit cracktacoshop.com.
