Fish 101 Expanding To Carlsbad Village With Third San Diego County Location

Fish 101, the popular North County San Diego seafood eatery, is set to open a new location in the heart of Carlsbad Village.

Founded in 2011 in Leucadia, Fish 101 was created by Chef John Park and Ray Lowe, who aimed to establish a traditional fish house focused on locally sourced seafood prepared with simplicity and quality. Their second location debuted in Cardiff in early 2019, bringing their fresh and sustainable seafood offerings to another North County coastal community.

Both Park & Lowe hail from San Francisco, where the duo previously partnered in restaurant Tokyo Go Go, which they sold in order to move to North County San Diego. Chef Park is a graduate of UCSC and the Culinary Academy of San Francisco and has previously worked at Ace Wasabi's in San Francisco and Cafe Japengo in La Jolla.

The newest Fish 101 outpost will open in the freestanding corner space at the prominent intersection of State & Grand. The new spot will feature an 1,856-square-foot indoor dining area along with a 2,200-square-foot outdoor patio.
Future home to Fish 101 Carlsbad
Fish 101 is known for its rotating seasonal menu that highlights the freshest catch and local produce. Signature offerings include white clam chowder, grilled shrimp cocktail, tuna poke, fish & chips, fresh-shucked oysters, seafood tacos, bowls, sandwiches, and plates. The restaurant also serves organic soft serve ice cream, a selection of craft beers, wines by the glass, and non-alcoholic beverages.

The Carlsbad Village location will bring Fish 101's casual, ocean-inspired atmosphere to a bustling pedestrian-friendly area, reinforcing the brand’s commitment to high-quality, sustainable seafood in a coastal setting.

Fish 101 is expected to open by year's end at 507 Grand Avenue in San Diego's North County city of Carlsbad. For more information, visit fish101restaurant.com.
