The beloved Carmel Mountain Ranch bakery, Jenny Wenny Cakes, known for its handcrafted cakes and dedication to quality ingredients, will cease operations on April 5, 2025. Owner Jenny Williams shared the news on Instagram, expressing gratitude to her customers, staff, and collaborators over the years.
"It is with a heavy heart that I share that I've decided to close Jenny Wenny Cakes. It's been such a fun 15 years, but it’s time to move on to other things," Williams wrote. "I wanted to thank all of my staff over the years, collaborators, and clients for your support. Our last day of official business will be April 5th. Until then, please continue to support us by ordering custom cakes through our website, or treats through @jennywennytreats."
Jenny Wenny Cakes began as a fundraising project for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society before evolving into a full-fledged business. Williams, who transitioned from a career in the pharmaceutical industry, earned a certificate in Culinary Arts and Baking & Pastry from Grossmont College before launching the business in 2010. Initially operating out of a shared kitchen, Jenny Wenny Cakes found a permanent home in Carmel Mountain Ranch in 2015, where it gained a loyal following for its custom cakes, macarons, cookies, and other desserts.
Beyond its cakes and desserts, the bakery cultivated a reputation for its attention to detail, offering full-service setups for weddings, birthdays, anniversaries, and other celebrations. Williams also announced that the bakery space is available for lease, stating, "We are still looking for someone to take over our bakery space in Carmel Mountain Ranch, reach out directly to enquire."
With the impending closure, Williams is actively seeking a new tenant for the 1,200-square-foot commercial kitchen in Carmel Mountain Ranch. The space, located in a business park, is ideally suited for a bakery, chocolatier, or food operation requiring air conditioning but does not have a ventilation hood. The lease includes all fixtures, furniture, and equipment, such as ovens, fridges, mixers, and induction burners.
The bakery's business listing highlights the facility's permitted grease trap, solar-powered electric system, and low-cost lease, making it an attractive opportunity for another food entrepreneur. Williams is aiming for a mid-April lease transfer and is available to provide training and support during the transition.
With just weeks remaining before closure, Williams hopes customers will continue to support the bakery. Orders can still be placed through Jenny Wenny Cakes’ website, and fans of the bakery can find treats through its sister brand, @jennywennytreats.
For those interested in taking over the bakery space, inquiries can be made directly through Williams.
