Orange County-Based Milk & Cookies Dessert Shop Opens New Location in Downtown San Diego

An Orange County-based dessert shop chain, Milk & Cookies, has officially opened its first San Diego location in the heart of downtown's East Village.

Chasen McNaughton, who launched the original Milk & Cookies shop in Newport Beach in 2020, has grown the business to five locations across Southern California, including Santa Ana, Mission Viejo, Fullerton, and Temecula, before bringing its signature offerings to San Diego. Last year, the company took over the space previously occupied by Poke Vida, transforming it into a vibrant dessert destination that recently opened its doors to the public.

Milk & Cookies is renowned for its fresh-baked cookies, always served warm, paired with artisanal ice cream crafted in small batches using all-natural ingredients. The menu boasts an impressive array of over a dozen cookie varieties, such as jumbo-sized options like s’mores, peanut buttercup, sea-salted caramel, Oreo white chocolate, and more, alongside eight distinct ice cream flavors. Customers can enjoy classic combinations like cookie-and-scoop pairings or indulge in creative ice cream sandwiches.
The shop also features a variety of milk flavors - banana, chocolate, strawberry, and orange cream - enhancing the nostalgic, back-to-basics dessert experience the brand emphasizes. According to the company, it uses only the highest quality ingredients to deliver what it describes as "the ultimate dessert experience," focusing on simplicity and quality over novelty.

This new East Village location positions Milk & Cookies in a competitive downtown San Diego dessert market, where it joins established spots like Insomnia Cookies and Cookie Plug, known for their own cookie-centric offerings. Despite the competition, Milk & Cookies stands out with its commitment to warm, freshly baked cookies and artisanal ice cream.

Milk & Cookies is now open at 445 Tenth Avenue in San Diego's East Village. For more information, visit cookiebox.com.
