Founded in 2008 in South Gate, Tierra Mia Coffee has gained a loyal following across California, with locations in Los Angeles, Orange County, and the Bay Area. The brand is renowned for its commitment to high-quality coffee, sourcing beans from Latin America and beyond while incorporating unique flavors into its handcrafted beverages.
The first San Diego branch of Tierra Mia Coffee cafe is set to debut in Oceanside, taking over a former Burger King site near Ocean;s Eleven Casino. Tierra Mia's menu features a variety of espresso drinks, pour-over coffee, and signature creations such as the Horchata Latte and the Mocha Mexicano. All of their bakery items, including guava cheese pastries and tres leches muffins, are made in-house. The company also places a strong emphasis on traditional brewing techniques, using La Marzocco espresso machines and Mazzer grinders to maintain consistency across its locations.
Pulitzer Prize-winning food critic Jonathan Gold once described Tierra Mia as one of the best coffee shops in Los Angeles, praising its dedication to quality and its role in shaping the city's third-wave coffee scene. Over the years, the company has been featured in publications like the Los Angeles Times and La Opinión, further solidifying its reputation as a standout in the specialty coffee industry.
The Oceanside opening represents a significant milestone for the brand as it expands into San Diego's competitive coffee landscape. While an official opening date has not yet been announced, local coffee enthusiasts can look forward to experiencing Tierra Mia's signature blends and baked goods in the near future.
Tierra Mia Coffee is expected to open later this year at 1420 Mission Avenue in San Diego's North County city of Oceanside. For more information, visit tierramiacoffee.com.
