After nearly two years at the Point Loma High School parking lot, the Point Loma Certified Farmers Market has relocated to the Arts District of Liberty Station, aiming to grow its presence in San Diego’s vibrant market scene.
Saturday, March 22, marked the Point Loma Farmers Market first day at its new location in Parking Lot E at 2740 Chauncey Road, at the corner of Historic Decatur and Chauncey Road inside Liberty Station. The market will now operate weekly on Saturdays from 9am to 1pm, hoping to expand its vendor base to draw more customers and strengthen its role as a community hub.
Founded by local chef Brady Farmer and his wife Mariana Farmer in June 2023, the Point Loma Farmers Market initially launched at Point Loma High School, where it ran on Sundays. Operated by the Devoted to Youth Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, the market channels its proceeds to support underprivileged youth and families through assistance and training programs.
The move to Liberty Station, a bustling cultural hub in Point Loma, offers a more central location to boost visibility. Previously somewhat "off the beaten path" at the high school, the new Sea Hive parking lot site provides an opportunity to create a farmers market with broader regional appeal, while staying rooted in the community it serves.
The market features a diverse array of offerings, including cultural foods, prepared dishes, drinks, snacks, fresh organic produce, arts and crafts, and service vendors. Visitors can expect farm-fresh fruits and vegetables, handcrafted artisanal products, and ready-to-eat treats, reflecting the market’s commitment to supporting small-scale farmers and producers.
A new partnership with Warren Walker Middle School's School of Young Entrepreneurs project adds a unique element, allowing students to showcase their work and gain real-world experience. With its vibrant atmosphere, the market aims to be a gathering place where neighbors, families, and friends can connect, shop, and enjoy the best of local goods. Upcoming events include "Cooking With a Chef" on Saturday, April 12, featuring a demonstration by Chef Brady Farmer using fresh, local produce with recipes to take home, and an Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday, April 19, offering a fun-filled day for kids with festive activities.
Liberty Station, already home to the daily Liberty Public Market since 2016, is no stranger to bustling marketplaces, but the Point Loma Farmers Market brings a weekly, community-focused addition to the area. Organizers are banking on the new location’s accessibility and the Arts District’s cultural draw to attract a larger vendor base and customer turnout. As the market settles into its new home, it invites San Diegans to join every Saturday to experience the essence of a true community farmers market.
