The An’s Gelato, taking over a former cell phone repair store, joins the flagship North Park location on Adams Avenue and An’s Hatmakers in Del Mar Plaza, as well as a stand, An’s Athletic Field Services Gelato, inside Petco Park’s Mercado. Once named second Best Ice Cream Shop in America by USA Today, An’s continues to delight with its small-batch gelato, served from a classic Pozzetti case and named after fabrics - or in this case, electronics components - paying homage to the site’s history.
The Ocean Beach location introduces a tech-inspired menu featuring collaborations with local businesses. Highlights include Motherboard, a double dark chocolate gelato with peanut butter swirls in partnership with OB Noodle House, using Skrewball peanut butter whiskey; Riquimbili, a pistachio gelato with passion fruit and raspberry caramel alongside Ocean Beach’s Azucar, packing nearly 3 pounds of pistachios per batch; and Walkman, a strawberry matcha gelato using ceremonial matcha from San Diego’s Paru Tea and house-made strawberry jam, inspired by Rikka Fika Cafe.

Founded by David Aguilera, Travis Bailey, Kris Warren, and Jimmy Blalock, An’s has earned accolades from Forbes, Zagat, and Lonely Planet for its traditional and non-traditional flavors. Aguilera has created over 500 flavors in seven years, crediting a collaborative team environment. The Ocean Beach opening adds to the neighborhood’s vibrant dessert scene.
The new location was designed by creative director Michael Soriano, who also worked on Raglan Public House, The Pearl Hotel, Realm of 52 Remedies speakeasy, and many other area dining concepts. It is expected that an ice cream speakeasy room will soon be added to this store. A grand opening celebration is scheduled for June 7.
