Owners Collette and Brian Foxworth invite San Diegans to savor their signature fried chicken and waffle dishes during new morning and afternoon hours at Mom's, aiming to establish the spot as the city’s premier breakfast destination. New menu items include Mom and Pops Special with chicken and waffles, eggs, bacon, and potatoes; Smothered Chicken and Waffles topped with signature breakfast gravy and green onions; Chicken Sunrise chicken and waffle sandwich with a fried egg, bacon and cheese; and a Hot Honey chicken and waffle sandwich.
Originally opened in July 2023 as a rebrand of Rhythm’s Chicken & Waffles - previously featured on Netflix’s Fresh, Fried & Crispy - Mom’s builds on the Foxworth family’s legacy, which began with Brian’s food truck ventures and a Pacific Beach location that closed in early 2023. Brian Foxworth, who announced the brunch expansion, brings a diverse entrepreneurial background, from managing Green Team Recycling with a San Diego Padres contract to running a record studio in his youth. His mother, Collette, a former hospital kitchen rep, drives the culinary vision, ensuring dishes like the jalapeño-cheddar waffle resonate with North Park’s late-night and now morning crowd.
Who needs Roscoe’s? The iconic chain has been working on a Barrio Logan location at 1678 National Avenue for nearly a decade since 2016, facing repeated delays - construction stalled in 2017, restarted in 2021, paused again in 2022, and despite resuming in 2024, remains far from completion with no confirmed opening date as of April 2025. Meanwhile, Mom’s Chicken & Waffles is serving up soul food daily, filling the void for San Diego's chicken and waffle lovers. With Roscoe’s still a distant promise, Mom’s is staking its claim as the heart of San Diego’s comfort food scene.
